I just arrived home from 7 weeks in South Africa, which were nice, met some anarchists there and they were wonderful people (also met a lot of wonderful non-anarchist people, off course).

I bought myself a dictaphone, whoch I'll be using to finally record my demo once I bought myself a somewhat better guitar, we'll see. Should be soon, and for real this time.

I also posted the lyrics and English explanations to four new songs, check 'em out in the lyrics section. Should be it for now.

Hello everyone!

A message to let you that the band hasn't split up yet (ha-ha-ha).
I'm still busy, finished a bunch of new songs; mostly short (around 1minute or less) and one long one of 6-7minutes. And working on 6 more (I think) to be finished some day, sooner or later.

The demo, of course, still hasn't been recorded (after 3 years by now, hahaha), it'll be something for when I return from my 2 month exodus to the other end of the world and finally buy a better guitar (I hope it'll be better). Besides the demo I've also finished writing material for a theme release on veganism (more than a year ago, already, but still). To be recorded and released some day, probably 3 years after finishing the songs, hahaha.
I'm also working on an EP with a bunch of really short, more punk, songs. Didn't finish all the songs for that one yet, but all the songs for that release are somewhere between finished and "music ready, no lyrics yet".

No shows for now, had to cancel one in Amsterdam (really, really sorry!!!!). Maybe I'll fix some gigs when I'm in South Africa, we'll see.

Update may 2010

Hi,

I'm way too lazy to keep updating this site, I'm sorry. But it's not like anyone ever reads this shit, haha.

Still no demo recorded, and I'm going to stop promising it'll be recorded soon. Time will tell when it will arrive.
I did finish the last track for the "Hel" release, a theme record on veganism. It's a 10.30min epic about eating meat and the whole idea of killing/using animals for food. I'll play it live for the first time in Merelbeke on the 16th of may.
So when I finally record my demo, I'll probably also record demo versions of these songs, as on the "official" release, I want to add drums to the songs.

As I said, I'll be playing in Merelbeke on the 16th of may. The adress is Plataan 85, you can get there by bike, car or bus (look up the bus lines yourself, lazy fuck!). There will be a vegan people's kitchen at 7pm normally, and the bands (myself, xFucked by Thievesx and Sam Solo) will play afterwards.

Some other news, I should normally be starting a tape label, and the first release was to be my demotape. But as this demo never gets recorded, I am happy to anounce that the first release should normally be the tape version of the new Finisterre record! Stay tuned!

Update 08/09/'09

Tour was cancelled due to low response. Sad, but hopefully some other time in probably another place!

In the meantime I have been busy writing new songs, a bunch of new lyrics can be found in the "lyrics" section, offcourse. Two new songs about veganism/animal abuse, and one new about consumerism. And offcourse, I am constantly writing new songs, although I never finish them quickly.

I have a gig on saturday, in Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Lombeek, near Ternat. It's free and there are a lot of other acts, it starts in the afternoon and goes on until early morning, I think. There will also be a vegetarian BBQ. Check the gig section for more information.

And at long last (now for real!) I will be recording my demo. I will probably record some extra songs, one to be released on a compilation cd of all bands who ever played in the Chaosbar in Leuven, and the rest to be put online to let you hear some new songs.

That'll be it for now, I think.

Update

So, I added an about section.

I also started getting my tour together again. I don't have any confirmations yet, but hopefully there will be in the future!

Then, I am FINALLY going to record my demo this or the next month. Hopefully I'll have a limited cd-r version with me on tour. We'll see! Otherwise I will bring a cd-r with the songs I already recorded and some live songs. More information about that next month.

The demo should be released as a tape (limited to 50 pieces, no repress, with a bonus song) and as a split cd-r with a band I'm not going to reveal yet, as it is not certain yet.

So, I'm a vegan and an anarchist. I got into anarchism when I was about 16 and learned a lot about it and the world since, I think. I became a vegan in octobre 2008, after being a vegetarian since I was 7 years old. I am against every form of speciecism, sexism, racism, fascism etc. You probably heard this a dozen times before, but I just want to make this clear.

Musically I am inspired a lot by crust punk, especially the epic/melodic variant, and by sludge. But also by peace punk, black metal, anarcho/riotfolk, ... I tend to write long, epic songs, but also some really short, more punk, songs.

I take a very long time writing my lyrics; that's why songs also take a long time to finish. You've probably heard the words I'm singing a thousand times before, these aren't any new topics and many bands have already sung about them earlier than me. But they're about things that make me angry, that keep me buzy, that I don't agree with. If I'm angry about something, I have to write a song about it, even if it's not anything new and it's been said a thousand times before.

I write my lyrics in Dutch, not because I'm proud of my language or something like that, but because I like it more this way. Also I want to make a statement against the domination of English in music. But as English is a communications language, I do explain my songs in English.

I guess this is the most important about my project, if you want to get to know me, just talk to me when you see me, hehehe.

New picture, video and tour.

The gigs in De Noodzaak were nice! I uploaded a picture and a video of exodus from the 4th of april. I also added some flyers of the past gigs in the pictures section.

Then, no new gigs for now, but I'm going to start planning a small tour in august, through Germany and the Netherlands. I will be hitching together with two friends. I've got some ideas where I'd like to play (the distances can't be too far since we have to hitchhike), but I'm not going to anounce any palces without asking some people of they can help us first.

I still haven't recorded my demo, shame upon me. But I was sick, and now I'm sick again and I'm not in Ghent en stuff like that... I'll hurry this time, for real!

I was finally able to upload the song "De arrogante aap". Thanks to Mike from Niolism (and a bunch of other projects) for changing the song's sample rate!

My voice is getting better as I speak, so maybe I'll start recording my demo the next week. We'll see! Should be 5 songs + a cover (maybe I'll record an extra cover just to put online).

So I finally deleted my myspace page. This is my homepage from now on.
You can also check my noxa page, which is in Dutch.

I might start recording my demo tomorrow, finally! But first I'm going to see how my voice turns out, because I'm a little sick. If my voice still cracks, the recordings will be post-poned, again!

Further, I've got two shows in de Noodzaak in Ghent in two days. One is on the people's kitchen the 2nd of april, together with the Tommies. The other is a benefit for 't AC, an anarchist centre, on the 4th of april. On the AC benefit, Gaius and Unarmed Riot will also be playing, along with a bunch of DJ's at night.

That's it for now, I'll post updates on the demo recordings when they occur.

Pretty sucky you can see all these sections right now but I guess there are worse things in life!

The recordings of my demo are postponed again, maybe next week hahaha.
My friend has a lot of work to do so I have to wait. That's okay, I have patience.
I'm going to search some info for tape pressing labels. I'm thinking about starting a tape label, and my demo is a try out for it!

explanation: the milk-industry isn't better than the meat-industry. cows are fistfucked to get pregnant because keeping a bull and letting the animals have a natural way of having sex is too expensive and it goes too slow. the cows are kept pregnant constantly until they are too old to give enough milk, then they get slaughtered for meat. Their calves are separated from them at birth, causing a trauma to both the mother and child. if the calve is a little bull, it is slaughtered for veal, since it's not profitable for the milk-industry. milk is murder!

Explanation: Battery chickens go through hell everyday. They are locked up 24/7 in complete darkness, without space to spread their wings, with out doing anything wrong besides from being a chicken that can lay eggs. Just because it is cheaper, they lock up millions of chickens in hell, for about 14 months, and after that their production lowers and they are slaughtered. (Also free range chickens are slaughtered when their production lowers!!). That's not all; only chickens are productive in batteries, roosters are worthless. So, when they're still little chicks, the little roosters get separated and gassed or grinded. In Belgium alone 3.5 million little roosters are killed every year! This is a daily holocaust, a daily hell.

Explanation: The seas are being emptied for human consumption. If fishing goes on at this rate, soon there won't be any fish left in the ocean. They have to go through a slow and painful hell before ending in man's stomach.

explanation: a song about the impending doom we are likely to face if we don’t radically change our ways of life (in an ecological sense). I don’t really like predictions about the future, as you never know how it might turn out, what might happen. But this is more of a metaphor for the constant choice for (capitalist) economy over ecology. And when people who are concerned about the only planet we have, shout out and/or act, most other people stay apathetic or condemn the methods (of direct action) used. The state imprisons them in order to save the economy and all goes on until the last coin is earned. A dead, lifeless planet is the consequence as they only thought about short term gain, and not about long term consequences (or they did, but they didn’t want to give up the economy for it).

explanation: I didn’t want to write a song about the police as it is so cliché. But then some things happened and my hate for cops grew so big I had to. The slight torture of a good friend of mine (because she didn’t want to give her fingerprints) was the straw that broke the camel's back. I don’t just hate cops because of their bad behavior (that torture, racism, violence at demo’s, …) , or because they stop us from doing certain things we’d like to do. Even if every cop was a nice and correct guy, and if there were no stupid laws, I’d still hate the police. The function of the police is protection of private property and the status quo, and social control. Protecting people from each other(and the reason for most crime is in most of the time retraceable to capitalism) is a task they only got in order to make their function acceptable. The best example to prove this are huge riots; when the people stand up against their rulers and/or the system because they are fed up, cops will protect the law, those rulers and the system, not the people.

"HAAT"

explanation: a (somewhat simplistic) song about the hate I start to feel when I think about the injustice in the world. I don’t want to hate, but sometimes I just can’t help it. There are so many people suffering and some are so rich they could feed all, yet they don’t share or just a little bit. Furthermore, some keep exploiting others in order to get richer, to get that xx% growth every year, although they already have so much money that they can never spend it in their lifetime. It angers me to think about all the pleasant parties they attend, while others die of starvation. Hate makes me feel like “punishing” them, I start viewing them as enemies, while most of them probably don’t want to inflict bad things on other people. But yet they keep doing what they do, in order to serve the company, the boss, the … They get rid of their feeling of responsibility because someone else ordered them to, or because it is for the greater cause of saving the company, or … I’d like to slap them all in the face to wake them up and let them realize what harm they are causing.

explanation: quite some adults (read: people in their 40-50’s), when discussing about certain topics with me, tell me that my world view will change when I get older, that they also thought that way when they were my age. I get the feeling it’s deemed normal to give up your ideals from when you were young, to accept society the way it is. In Flanders, there is even a saying: “When you aren’t a Marxist (or anarchist, whatsoever) when you are 20, you have no heart. When you’re still a Marxist when you are 40, you have no brains.” It seems that to become an adult, you should give up what you stand for. Because of that, those adults don’t take the things I’m saying seriously. When I give a decent argument, they reply “you’ll see the world isn’t that simple” or something like that, and that really annoys me. Kids aren’t taken seriously either. They might have great ideas or nice things to say, but they aren’t listened to because they are kids. Age is a huge factor for power in our society, and I don’t agree with that. Of course older people have more experience, but that doesn’t make them superior. And that doesn’t make the ideas of a kid or a youngster less valuable.
On the other hand, “becoming adult” means you adapt to a certain set of norms and values society views as “adult”. As I have no intention to adapt to that set of norms and values, I don’t mind being called immature. At least I care for others than myself/my family.

Hi!

So I added a menu and some links to the navigation stuff on the right. The posts to which the menu refers are still visible now but will probably disappear in the future to some "older pages", so I made the menu so you can always find out the contact en shows section. I also added some bands and other useful links. I guess my 'site' is finally getting somewhat of a good form. I'm going to delete my myspace in the near future.

Also, I will normally record my demo this week. Or at least I will start recording my demo this week, at the lovely Pieter Beck recording studio. It's nothing more than a laptop in a friend of mines room, hehe. More info to follow.

I figured out how to put a music player on the side, so now you can listen to one of my songs. I don't know wether it's complete as the player said not more than 8Mb, and it's a bit more. It's also only one song, because the other one had a problem with the sample rate or something like that...

Also, I played at the people's kitchen in Knesselare yesterday, it was fun! Thanks to everybody who was there.
Next gig will be like the 3rd or 4th of april, as far as I know know. More info to follow.

And at last, next week I'll start recording my demo! I'm going to see how many songs I'll record. Normally 5 of my own song and a cover for the tape version. We'll see.

Hi.

This post is a try-out. When I was searching alternatives to myshit, I came upon this. I'm not sure wether I can post songs on this thing, we'll see. If this thing works, I'll probably delete my myshit.

Some news: I'm going to record a demo very soon. It will be released as a limited pro-tape normally, and some cd-r's will also be made probably. It will contain 5 songs and the tape will normally contain a bonus cover song which won't be on the cd-r.

Thursday 19/02 I'll play in the chaosbar in Leuven together with Kilnaboy and The Usual Suspects (who will perform a semi-acoustic set). The entrance fee is €3. Kilnaboy will also play at the Alternative Bookfair in Ghent saturday 21/02 together with Inner Terrestrials. The entrance fee for the gig is €5, the bookfair is free.
Normally I'll also play at the people's kitchen in Idem squat in Knesselare next week on 25/02. More info to follow, I guess.
